Give your feedback on designs for future museum exhibitions and activities

The Council is seeking your views on designs for future museum exhibitions and activities at the new Museum and Cultural Centre on St Mary’s.

Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we have commissioned heritage design specialists, Imagemakers, to create designs which offer an interpretation of what future museum exhibitions could look like in the new facility. The designs have been created in discussion with the Isles of Scilly Museum Association and other stakeholders. The funding has also enabled Christina Dixon Consulting to work on proposals for an activity programme.

Both consultants have used responses from our previous consultation to inform their work. This feedback included examples of what people liked about the previous museum, their preferences for themes and stories, and the need to effectively integrate the museum and community centre uses of the building.

Now we want to know what you think of these new proposals so we can adjust them in line with the levels of interest shown.

How to view the designs and give feedback

The images for the exhibition designs can be found below, along with a link to the survey. The survey is open from Friday 7 July and will run until 5pm on Friday 28 July 2023.

Paper copies of the survey can be collected from and submitted to St Mary's Library during opening hours. They can also be found in the Town Hall - please speak to museum volunteers if you need assistance.

Speak to the designers

Imagemakers will be at the Town Hall on Monday 10 July from 11am to 1pm and again from 2.15pm to 3pm, with display boards featuring the interpretation designs. We invite you to come and meet the design team and ask any questions you may have.

The displays will remain on view in the Town Hall from 10am to 3pm every day (except Sunday), from Monday 10 July to Monday 24 July. There will also be an opportunity to view the displays at the Town Hall from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, 13 July.
