What’s in a name?!

After consultation with many of you, we’re very pleased to confirm that the former Town Hall at the heart of Hugh Town, will continue to be called the Town Hall.

Retaining its name was the most popular choice amongst islanders, a wonderful way to honour the history and heritage of our special Grade II listed building as it undergoes its transformation, ready to provide a new home for our museum, plus a live performance venue and community space for us all.

The Town Hall will continue its position at the heart of our community for generations to come.

We have also been considering options for the name of the charitable organisation which will take on the running of the Town Hall and deliver an island wide programme of performances and events for everyone to enjoy.

After considering a wide range of options, we have settled on Scilly Arts & Heritage.

Scilly Arts & Heritage will support everyone’s commitment to care for Scillonian heritage, celebrating the islands’ distinctiveness with vibrant community, arts and cultural activity.

There’s lots of really exciting work to come, so look out for more news and updates over the coming months. As always, we’re very keen to hear your thoughts and ideas, so please do get in touch if you would like to chat, email us at jeff@scillyartsheritage.org.uk

Scilly Arts & Heritage would like to thank our generous funders UK Government, National Lottery Heritage Fund, Good Growth Shared Prosperity Fund, Arts Council England and Council of the Isles of Scilly for this phase of the work.
